Divina Commedia 2.0 — Inferno

For “The Third Circle — Gluttony”, Anita M. Frâncu created the painting, filmed the process and edited the visual material in dialogue with the music of Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi.

The studio photographs trace the creative process: the painterly gesture, the emergence of faces and the transformation of the surface. This black-and-white series documents the stages of the multimedia project.

The work was part of the international Divina Commedia 2.0 — Inferno tour, which ran from 14 October to 8 November 2025 in cities across Romania and Europe. The project brought together nine composers and nine visual artists, alongside Duo HESPERUS and electronic tape, in a contemporary reinterpretation of Dante’s Inferno.

I am truly grateful and happy for the opportunity to be part of this project, which brings music and visual art into a deep and authentic dialogue. Painting, filming and editing material that would complement the sensitivity and power of Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi’s composition was a personal challenge.

The theme “The Third Circle — Gluttony” brought me face to face with my own reflections and emotions. Finding a visual language that could speak alongside the music was a distinctive journey. Working with Sebastian was a valuable experience that enriched me both artistically and personally.
